Tuesday's Toothbrush Story - The Archduke of Westminster

Hello friends! Here is another toothbrush story for you guys. I had a lot of fun writing this silly story with Maia G. This story was written before we decided it would be a good idea to decide on the setting...some parts don't really make sense.

Character: Harold, the Archduke of Westminster

Harold was the archduke of Westminster; he was a man of tradition with a handlebar moustache and constantly reeked of peppermint mothballs.

Harold ran his fingers through his medium-length red hair,

“What’s on the schedule today?” he asked Carol, his imaginary friend.

“We have lunch at 2:00 with the investor.” She replied. Harold was a bit of a man child, who, although he was 36, still had an imaginary friend.

On that particular day they were sitting on the veranda when a cat appeared among begonias.

Harold briskly walked through the foyer, he imagined Carol walking closely behind. Suddenly, he whirled around, twisting is long and luscious mustache. He glanced around the room, looking like the schizophrenic man he seemed to be.

“Stop!” shouted the constable, “in the name of the Queen!”

He suddenly turned and ran out into the street, stopping traffic. After standing there for a few seconds, an innocent bystander called out to him,

“Sir,” she called, “Sir, what are you doing?” she demanded, a choir of car horns backing her up.

“Hey!” said the constable (who was baptized Johannes Franz) shrilly. “You can’t say that!” and he slapped him like a child.

Harold turned and glared in the direction of the lady who had called out to him. He fell on his kneed and threw his arms into the sky,

“Carol is gone!” he screamed at the top of his lungs.

The cat stared off to the horizon.

The confused and concerned bystanders looked on in shock. Harold frantically jumped up and ran back into the building.

They embraced and forgave one another’s faults. The world was imperfect, and so were they. But it was all right. Together, they walked down the path, their matching tattoos glinting in the sunlight.
